π Job Description:
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant - Portfolio Development who will support the success of the class and students by providing students with additional academic support in a professional manner. The TA assists students in understanding content by using various teaching/tutoring strategies. A teaching Assistant must be available to provide extra assistance to individual students as needed.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The teaching assistant will assist in grading homework, quizzes, and exams of the online section of course.
The teaching assistant will also monitor online discussion boards, perform online course communication with students, and assist during synchronous discussions.
The selected individual will be responsible for preparing the course Blackboard site before the start of the course.
The Blackboard site will include assignment descriptions and deadlines, grade book calculations, group and class discussion forums, student resources, practice exams, and mid-term course evaluations.
The position will require the student to outline a teaching module for future online teaching assistants. This module must include documents for preparing new teaching assistants, troubleshooting tips, and information on fostering a productive working relationship with a professor.
Perform other related duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
